Twinkies may be headed south of the border
11/19/2012Although the Twinkie may be an iconic American snack, it may soon emigrate south of the border. With Hostess declaring bankruptcy last week, the snack-food giant has been attempting to sell off its brands of sugary snacks, including the Twinkie. Sources report that several American firms are looking to purchase the cream-filled treats, but the most serious buyer may be the Mexican company Grupo Bimbo. Grupo Bimbo is the world's largest bread-baking firm and already owns parts of Sara Lee, Entenmann's, and Thomas' English Muffins. While it may be troubling to see such an American icon leave the country, at least this could mean survivial for the endangered Twinkie. [Source]
