Since the announcement that Hostess is dunzo, Twinkies have been making a killing on eBay and Amazon as fans of the brand start hoarding the preservative-laden baked goods for perpetuity. Hey, Twinkie addicts, maybe restrain yourselves from throwing down a few thousand dollars for oblong cupcakes, because it’s very likely another brand will buy the rights to continue manufacturing Twinkies – in fact, many brands are expected to vie for the golden goose cupcake that makes an estimated $125 million a year. Possible contenders include Bimbo Bakeries, Flower Foods and that tiny temptress Little Debbie (McKee Foods).
