Twittersphere remembers 'Encyclopedia Brown' author
7/16/2012J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series may have defined this generation’s youth, but for the older folks, it was the adventures of Leroy “Encyclopedia” Brown that guided them through their childhood. Perhaps that’s why many of them went to Twitter this morning to reminisce and pay their respects upon learning that the series’ creator, Donald J. Sobol, had passed away at age 87. Publishers Weekly first broke the news this morning via Twitter, but according to Entertainment Weekly, the author died last Wednesday. Sobol’s legacy will forever live on through the Encyclopedia Brown series, which stretched to more than two dozen titles and, most importantly, instilled in many of us a love of learning. [Source]
