UCLA tells 894 students they're in, then takes it back
4/11/2012As if the college admissions process isn't stressful enough. UCLA didn't make it any easier after telling 894 applicants they'd been accepted, then retracting that acceptance. The mistake appeared in a financial aid email sent to applicants with a confirmed place at the school, as well as those on the waiting list. The email stated, "Once again congratulations on your admission to UCLA." Waiting-list students were then directed to another letter, which clearly stated they were, indeed, waiting-list students. A spokesman blamed the mess on "human error" and apologized to disappointed applicants, who remain on the waiting list -- although they might not trust any future "admittance" letters they get from UCLA.
Would you still want to go to UCLA after this?
