Postal Service owes up to $2M to Green Beret fired for military leave
12/19/2012Reason No. 3,612 the U.S. Postal Service is broke: The agency could wind up paying more than $2 million after a judge ruled that a much-decorated Army Green Beret fired from his job in 2000 must be reinstated and paid back wages. The USPS contended that Special Forces Sgt. Maj. Rick Erickson exceeded his military leave, even though he was called to service in Afghanistan with the National Guard, and then continued to fight him even after it lost two court decisions. "This is about every veteran that got fired from their job while serving their country," says Erickson. Good thing they're raising the postage in January to help cover the tab. [Source]
