D'oh! Guess who has 682 million useless 'Simpsons' postage stamps
8/22/2012The United States Postal Service has been lumped with some 682 million commemorative stamps featuring characters from the animated sitcom "The Simpsons." The stockpile apparently wasn't on the agenda when USPS decided to raise the price of a standard stamp by a penny to 45 cents back in January. The teeny increase rendered the 44-cent "Simpsons" stamps almost useless. In failing to move more than two-thirds of the stock, the USPS has wasted around $1.2 million on the stamps, which were issued in 2009 to 2010. D’oh! [Source]
UPDATE: An earlier version of this story misstated the number of stamps.
