Not from The Onion: UNC says the word 'freshman' is too sexist

If you were looking for the Dumbest Thing You'll Hear Today (one that doesn't involve last night's debate), here you go. The University of North Carolina has announced that it will no longer use the term "freshman" to describe its youngest students, opting for "more gender inclusive language." And what will the new word be? Freshmyn? Freshpersons? Freshlings? Nope, just the vaguely English sounding "first-year." The school has not explained why it's making this change or why it's chosen to do it now. "I feel like they are making a big deal out of nothing," one student leader said.
