If you were nice enough to participate in the 2010 census, you’re on this map, represented as one of the 308,450,225 small dots on these United States. Brian Martin-Anderson made this rather thoughtful representation of the U.S. population, and it paints a vivid picture of the stillness of the rural Southwest and the dense communities in the great cities. Martin-Anderson carefully removed state lines and highways to give a bigger picture of “human settlement patterns unmediated by proxies.” Go find your dot, but keep in mind: As it is from information gathered in 2010, some newer Americans aren’t on the map yet — experts say US population will top 315 million by the first day of 2013.
