U.S. Olympians will dress up just like Thurston Howell III

7/10/2012

Oh, for the love of Lovey! U.S. athletes will be dressed like Thurston Howell III at the Olympics opening ceremony July 27. Ralph Lauren has unveiled the new Olympic uniforms, which the designer's son, David Lauren, notes are not dissimilar to those the company gave athletes at the 2008 Beijing Games -- only if anything, they're even more over-the-top preppy: Guys will wear white (sorry, "cream") shoes, slacks and shirts; pony-logo-embroidered, double-breasted blue blazers and patriotic ties. Female athletes will don frumpy "cream" knee-length skirts, bobby socks and shoes; fitted navy blazers and red-white-and-blue scarves. All will wear "really fun berets," Lauren tells USA Today. Could be worse. He could have dressed them all like Gilligan and Ginger.
