Bolt chose a low-key 400m race in Jamaica to begin his season, and although he won his heat, two other Jamaican sprinters — Bolt’s 4x100 relay teammates Yohan Blake and Warren Weir — posted faster times in their races. It was only a defeat on paper, since no head-to-head final was held.
