'Vampire' skeletons unearthed in Bulgaria

6/6/2012

Bulgarian archaeologists have unearthed skeletons with iron rods staked through their chests — a method (as any "Twilight" viewer would know) guaranteed to kill even the undead. The two "centuries-old" skeletons were found near the town of Sozopol, on the Black Sea, and experts say more than 100 corpses have been found in the country stabbed in similar manners "to prevent them from becoming vampires." In fact, one researcher said he didn't understand the big to-do about the new find. "I do not know why an ordinary discovery like that [has] became so popular. Perhaps because of the mysteriousness of the word 'vampire,'" he told Fox News, before hissing, baring his fangs and vanishing into the night. (We wish.)
