Ballsy Wal-Mart worker doesn't let low attendance stop her walkout11/23/2012
Wal-Mart workers have been threatening a walkout ahead of Black Friday, and on Wednesday, Wal-Mart employee Vanessa Ferreira staged one. However, you might not have noticed it, since she was the only worker participating in the protest. Ferreira, 59, who has worked in the cake department of a St. Cloud, Fla., Wal-Mart for eight years, was protesting the megachain’s low wages and the fact that the company keeps too many of its employees at part-time status, forcing them to depend on government help. Although Ferreira claims she was charged with trespassing and ordered to leave after staging her walk-out on Wednesday, Wal-Mart spokeswoman Kory Lundberg said the trespassing warning was a mistake and that she’s welcome to return to work.
