'Healthy' veggies make us sicker than meat each year

It's been less than a week since fruit wreaked havoc with Ashton Kutcher's digestive system, but now veggies are suffering some reputational damage, too. According to the CDC, lettuce and other leafy greens are responsible for 2.2 million food-borne illnesses every year. And to make matters worse, produce (including fruit, vegetables and nuts) sickens 4.4 million people annually. Bet your mom didn't know that when she ordered you to eat your veggies as a kid. In comparison, contaminated meat causes just 2.1 million illnesses per year. Oh, sorry, did you order a salad for lunch? Might want to swap it for a cheeseburger. [Source]
