Victim held at sausage-point in alleged bicycle-jacking

6/19/2012

Police have charged Michael A. Baker, 22, of Holbrook, Mass., with assault and battery, robbery and disturbing the peace after he allegedly assaulted a man with stolen sausage links and a loaf of bread before making off with his silver bicycle. The alleged victim said he did not know Mr. Baker and had no idea why Baker started attacking him with meat, cheese, and other foodstuffs while he was riding his bike on Sunday morning. According to reports, Baker soon dumped the food and began to lay about his victim with a wrench. The attack came shortly before a report of sausages and cheese being stolen from a lockbox at a nearby fairground. Police say they then found a blood-spattered Baker riding a silver bike. Later, in court, Baker claimed self-defense and entered an innocent plea against all charges.
