Victoria's Secret apologizes for Native American catwalk clunker

11/13/2012

November is turning into "Offend-and-Apologize to Native Americans Month." First No Doubt pulled its new video after backlash against its Native American theme. Now Victoria's Secret has apologized for styling a model in a Native American-style headdress for its splashy annual fashion show. The outfit (including the floor-length headdress, leopard-print undies and high heels) will no longer be included in the televised show or the company’s marketing materials. You'd think during the brainstorming process for all these projects there'd be at least one person reminding everyone how these portrayals go down with the Native American community. Navajo Nation spokesman Erny Zah says, "Any mockery, whether it's Halloween, Victoria's Secret — they are spitting on us." [Source]
