Video satirizing drug cartels with all-kid cast rocks Mexico

4/14/2012

A controversial new video satirizing drug cartels, corrupt government officials and greedy businessmen, has spurred intense public debate in Mexico, according to The Associated Press. The four-minute "mockumentary" features an all-child cast playing the roles of the aforementioned groups. At the end of the video, titled "Niños Incomodos" ("Discomforting Kids"), a little girl sends a message to candidates in the country's July 1 presidential elections: "If this is the future that awaits me, I don't want it. Enough of working for your political parties instead of for us. Enough of cosmetic changes." All of the major candidates have praised the video, which was produced by a group of private companies and universities, but critics have called it both political manipulation and child abuse.
