Job applicant foolishly decides to color outside the lines

8/8/2012

Note to anyone who's ever sent in an awkward job application: You didn't do as bad a job as this guy. An "aspiring trader" sent this email to Carl, a financial services executive. So far, so good – but when Carl asks the applicant to "add any color you can to the application," the wheels come off. The grammar in the response is bad enough ("Retain strong discipline and assertiveness to all my work"), but the applicant makes the spectacularly awful decision to apply a rainbow’s worth of color to his email text. The trader’s cooler-than-cool response? "Please explain your rationale for the rainbow." [Source]
