This nifty music video was made almost entirely in Excel
8/11/2012Mystery Guitar Man is an old hand at creating attention-getting YouTube videos, but his latest effort, made primarily in Microsoft Excel, is mind-boggling. The song is "Cuban Pete," which you might remember from a maracas-centric scene in Jim Carrey's "The Mask." The video is made up of shots of MGM playing a variety of instruments (including the maracas and what appears to be a tube-and-funnel combination). Each shot is pixelated until it can be replicated in Excel, using tiny grid boxes to create the image's pixels. Altogether, it’s 730 frames, and it's generated plenty of debate on whether it's "real" or made some other way. (We vote real.)
