Virgin Mary turns up at construction site, in time for Christmas

A Christmas miracle? A Virgin Mary statue was unearthed last week on a construction site outside a Boston-area assisted living facility. Spotted in a heap of excavated dirt by a resident taking a stroll, the 4-foot concrete statue — which was found totally intact, is of mysterious provenance and is believed to have been underground for at least 20 years — was retrieved, cleaned up and brought inside, bringing hope to the home's denizens. One resident called it "wonderful," "beautiful" and "a precursor of good things to come."
