Another state is seriously considering arming teachers
12/20/2012Another state besides Tennessee is considering arming its schoolteachers. In the wake of last week's Newtown school shooting, Gov. Robert F. McDonnell (R) of Virginia is trying to start a discussion about school staff bringing concealed weapons on campus to protect students from outbursts of violence. The governor is going so far as to propose a bill that would require some teachers to pack heat. His sentiments are supported by Sen. Richard Black (R) of Virginia, who said "There's no way you'd have 20 innocent children gunned down if you had teachers who could help themselves." Virginia's Citizen Defense League also supports the plan, along with the idea of letting parents to bring firearms on school property. [Source]
