In Virginia we trust? State moves closer to minting its own money
2/7/2013Thomas Jefferson's image already graces the U.S. nickel, so Virginia may have to go with another favorite son (Warren Beatty? Michael Vick?) when it gets around to issuing its own currency. And that could be sooner than you think now that a bill to study and prepare for the prospect has passed the state's House of Delegates by a 2-to-1 margin. Del. Robert Marshall, above, thinks the nation is teetering on fiscal Armageddon with the Fed pumping trillions into the economy, while a rival lawmaker calls even this $17,440 expenditure "descending into la la land."
