Man's skill at soccer video game earns him job at actual soccer club
11/22/2012It's officially time to stop planning to gain a fulfilling career by getting an education and working your way up the ranks. Instead you should just play a lot of video games — at least if your dream job includes being a surgeon or managing a sports team. Vugar Huseynzade has been promoted to manager of FK Baku, one of Azerbaijan's top soccer clubs because of his experience playing the simulation game "Football Manager." Huseynzade, a 21-year-old student in Sweden who had worked at the club as an assistant since February, told a Swedish newspaper that he's been an avid player of the game since 2002. So if you want to get a job via playing video games, you still need to put in years of hard labor. [Source]
