Wal-Mart in the doghouse for allegedly firing pup-saving worker

2/1/2013

Was a tenderhearted Wal-Mart worker canned for canine kindness? The American Pit Bull Examiner reports that a Wal-Mart employee in Hermiston, Ore., got the boot for trying to rescue a puppy who wandered into the store looking "obviously scared and hungry and cold." The worker reportedly tried to call an animal rescue group to come for the poor pooch, but she was then told by her manager she was "disgusting" for keeping the puppy at her cashier's station. He allegedly ordered her to take the dog and "get out." Wal-Mart wouldn't verify the story. The Examiner notes that, as a top seller of pet products, shouldn't the mega-chain allow "one little puppy … temporary protection until rescue arrives?" [Source]
