Wal-Mart's new iPhone app lets shoppers avoid Wal-Mart cashiers
9/1/2012Next time you're in Wal-Mart the greeter at the door might be the only employee you'll have to talk to. The chain of retail megastores is developing an iPhone app that would allow shoppers to scan items themselves and self checkout. Employees at the company's Rogers, Ark., store were given a chance to test out the app, but it might not be in their best interest as the move could reduce the number of cashiers needed. Right now, the company spends nearly $12 million every second, so while it might get you in and out of the store quicker, it also save Wal-Mart serious money. [Source]
