Wal-Mart enrages tweeps with possible cuts to health coverage

12/1/2012

Better refill your hot cocoa, Wal-Mart protesters. Although the fight for better wages has been going on a long time, it looks like the struggle for employee health insurance may just be beginning. The Huffington Post reports it has obtained a copy of the company's policy showing that Wal-Mart execs plan to begin denying health insurance to new hires in January, as well as reserving the right to eliminate coverage for employees whose average drops below 30 hours. The news has Twitter users up in arms and certain healthcare experts have said it is an attempt to use Obamacare to shift costs to taxpayers. A Wal-Mart rep declined to respond to questions and has accused the Huffington Post of unfair coverage. [Source]
