Man can't afford to have footlong tumor removed from neck3/19/2013
Wang Zhixiang has a massive growth that has spread from his neck to his shoulders, but the Chinese man can't afford to have it removed. The benign tumor, called a lipoma, is almost 12 inches across and stretches from shoulder to shoulder. Masses like this are caused by an overgrowth of fat cells, and Wang believes his started developing eight years ago as a result of hormone therapy he received after an accident. Because the lipoma is noncancerous, it does not have to be removed — although most tumors that reach this size are — but as it continues to grow, it will further affect Wang's already limited mobility.
