Wanna piss off the Brits? Mess with Kate Middleton's teeth

7/10/2012

The old stereotype that the English have bad teeth has appeared everywhere from "Saturday Night Live" to the inside of Austin Powers' mouth. But when American magazine "The New Republic" photoshopped Kate Middleton's choppers, the outraged reaction from across the Atlantic was "Hey! Get your hands off our pretty pretty princess!" (Or delightful, delightful Duchess). "Never heard of the magazine but I dislike it already," wrote one of 1,300 Daily Mail commenters. Even some U.S. readers were appalled. "When did [you] decide to become a second-rate MAD magazine?" one commenter asked on "The New Republic"'s Facebook page. The mag's current issue is built around a cover story suggesting that "something's rotten" in the U.K.
