Sure wouldn't want to be the cleanup crew after 'War of Tomato' fest
2/18/2013Food fight! The third annual "War of the Tomato," a massive fruit-throwing frenzy that attracted about 7,000 people, took place Saturday in the Chilean city of Quillón. More than 88,000 pounds of ripe red produce, donated by local tomato-growers to boost interest in their crop, were chucked in this event that’s either a tremendous amount of fun, a ridiculous mess or a whole lot of ketchup, depending on your perspective. Don't worry about waste, though. The tomatoes thrown "weren't for sale anyway," one participant said. [Source]
