National Cathedral in DC will now perform same-sex weddings
1/9/2013Want to have a great big gay wedding? Same-sex couples can now add the vast Washington National Cathedral to their list of dream venues. The 106-year-old Episcopal house of worship has decided to allow same-sex couples to marry within its venerable arches, making good on its inclusive moniker, the "National House of Prayer." The move comes on the coattails of new same-sex marriage referendums in D.C. and Maryland, which allows religious organizations to decide whether they'll perform the sacrament. The cathedral's dean, the Rev. Gary Hall, says "My reading of the Bible leads me to want to do this because I think it’s being faithful to the kind of community that Jesus would have us be.” [Source]
