Watch a baby elephant happily hone her soccer skills
6/1/2012The English have such a fascination with soccer, er, sorry "football," that they even get baby elephants in on the action. Keepers at the Whipsnade Zoo near Dunstable, England, have been helping their pachyderm get ready for a sporting extravaganza by letting her kick around a giant soccer ball. Donna may not be pulling off any Wayne Rooney-esque bicycle kicks, but she does prove that having four legs to pass with can be put to a player's advantage. All it took was getting over any anxieties about this new, rolling toy. "When they first see it, it's this weird object in their enclosure," said Lee Sambrook, a curator at the zoo. "But when they realize they can run around and push on it ... playing just comes naturally."
Do you think playing helps baby animals develop?
