Pyrotechnics engineers celebrate birthdays differently
8/26/2012As a kid, did you ever have a birthday where someone gave you a cake with trick candles? Were you frustrated when you wasted valuable party time blowing futilely instead of opening presents? Well, be glad you don’t know any pyrotechnics experts. When David Banks reached 50, his pyrotechnic-engineer coworkers were gracious enough to give him a cake at the office. Mr. Banks bravely blows out the candles, possibly saving his workplace from what looks like an awful lot of fire for a facility handling explosives. Then, once his guard was down, his friends gave him the perfect gift for any holiday: temporary hearing loss!
