Watch chalk artist slowly bring Super Mario to 3-D life
6/26/2012The craziest thing about this time-lapse video of artist Chris Carlson chalking Mario (and Nintendo controller) onto a floor is how incredibly three-dimensional it looks. Slowly filling in a giant grid, Carlson eventually colors in the entire image — and by the time he's done, Super Mario looks like he's almost jumping out of the floor. Equally impressive is the fact that even though this is time lapse, it still seems to be incredibly time-intensive — so even though we see the entire process unfold in around four minutes, you get the sense that this required a huge amount of Carlson's time and effort. Perhaps best of all is the music — it's the Boston Pops' version of the game's theme song.
