Watch San Diego Zoo's gorgeous baby gorilla turn one
6/19/2012Sigh. As any parent (or zookeeper) knows, the first year is always the hardest. That's why baby's first birthday is the mother of all milestones. And that's just as true for little Monroe as it is for any human kid. One of San Diego Zoo's most treasured residents, Monroe is a Western lowland gorilla, a species now listed as critically endangered. Still, the burden of perpetuating his species doesn't seem to weigh the little guy down too much as he opens gifts before crowds of adoring human fans. And, just like all one-year-olds, he's a lot more interested in the wrapping than the gifts.
Were you this cute when you were one?
