Guys, you're subconsciously checking out other guys' dance moves

2/2/2013

Don't worry, guys. Those women will definitely check out your dance moves at the club tonight … but so will other guys. A group of researchers from Northumbria University learned that heterosexual men eyeball each other's dance-floor skills in order to identify "love rivals." In the study, real-life dance moves were converted into 3D avatars before being sized up by both men and women who evaluated their "perceived dance and physical qualities." Both sexes noticed "strong arm and torso movements," observations that seem to help men subconsciously gauge the upper body strength of other dudes. "This increased sensitivity … may be due to them sizing up the strength and virility of their competition," lead researcher Dr. Nick Neave said. [Source]
