Weight-loss goggles magnify food so you don't pig out
6/4/2012Weight loss can be tricky, but University of Tokyo researchers have brought new meaning to that concept with the introduction of virtual reality goggles that fool people into eating less. In one experiment, the camera-enabled, computer-enhanced goggles magnified snacks in users' hands, prompting volunteers to eat less. Another experiment used scents such as chocolate or strawberry to trick subjects into thinking they were eating something tastier -- and presumably more satisfying -- than a plain biscuit. "Reality is in your mind," professor Michitaka Hirose told AFP. Never mind your mouth and stomach.
