Well-timed documentary helps rescue stranded dolphin
4/10/2012Here's one for the happy coincidences file: A beached dolphin and her baby were saved thanks to a rescuer who had watched an online video on stranded dolphins a few days earlier. George Heheman, 74, and his family sprang into action when they saw the stranded mommy dolphin on a sandbar while boating in Jacksonville, Fla. Using the documentary advice, they dragged the 300-lb creature by its tail through the shallow water and back to the safety of the sea. The dolphin's baby was in a nearby tidal creek, but the group managed to direct it back towards its waiting mother and watched as they swam off happily into the sunset. You see, kids? It pays to watch documentaries.
