Westboro Baptists take their signature protest style to Broadway

The Westboro Baptist Church is heading to Broadway! Members of the always-charming Kansas congregation picketed Times Square on Friday afternoon, for vague reasons that, as usual, involved a bunch of anti-gay ranting. Regarding the protest, the group's website states: "New York City is the epicenter of international commerce. These people care more about the almighty dollar than the Almighty God … [and] promote their filth in and around Times Square. WBC will shed some Gospel light on that mess," plus some homophobic things that don't need repeating. Counterprotests were organized to form a human wall, but there is one possibility for common ground because liberal New Yorkers and fundamentalist Westboro members can finally agree on something: Times Square sucks.
