What goes 'thump thump woo thump'? A Denver ambulance

5/30/2012

If you're driving and hear a set of subwoofers that are powerful enough to rattle your dental work, don't roll your eyes ... get out of the way! Denver Health EMS has outfitted a dozen of their ambulances with speakers big enough to blow up the Black Eyed Peas (and perhaps that could be a bonus application?) after realizing that drivers weren't always responding to their traditional flashing lights-and-siren combo. "They vibrate the entire ground," chief paramedic Scott Bookman said. "People can feel it throughout their car. It's pretty neat." It's also effective, allowing the bass-bumping EMS crews to respond to emergencies within nine minutes while ensuring that they grab the attention of the other drivers on the road.
