'Merica should switch to metric, snotty White House petition claims

1/2/2013

Quick, how many inches are there in 2 feet? That's right, 24. Now: How many millimeters are there in 36 meters? Uh, next question, please. The day may soon come when Americans will have to answer that question, though, thanks to a petition on the White House's "We the People" digital platform. The petition wants the metric system to replace our good ol' imperial system of feet and inches, calling our way "imprecise" and claiming we’re adhering to it "stubbornly." So what are the benefits of going metric? "It's superior [and] less convoluted," according to the hoity-toity petitioner, who's starting to sound more and more like a pissed-off exchange student. [Source]
