White tiger cubs make world open up and say 'aww'

5/10/2012

If there were anything cuter than a clutch of newborn white tiger cubs snuggling for warmth, we would probably have to wear some type of protective outer layer lest our hearts literally melt and cause the milk of human kindness to ooze like mother's milk from our nipples. Four white tigers, including one albino, have been born at the Skazka Zoo in southern Ukraine, bringing rapturous delight to animal lovers all over the world. One of the Skazka vets pointed out that while white tigers, especially albinos, are extremely rare (fewer than 100 whites are known to exist globally), it's also very rare for a tigress to give birth to four cubs at once, with two or three the norm. To mark this auspicious occasion, the zoo is running a contest to name the little guys.
