@WilliamShatner Yes, Standard Orbit, Captain. And we're detecting signs of life on the surface.

Astronaut in space sends William Shatner a tweet of Trekkie gold

1/4/2013

Who would have thought back in the ol' days of Captain Kirk presiding over the USS Enterprise that this particular exchange could ever be possible in real life? William Shatner of "Star Trek" (and Twitter) fame tweeted at an astronaut in space and the astronaut tweeted a highly appropriate response. Shatner asked Chris Hadfield, currently on the International Space Station as a Flight Engineer, "Are you tweeting from space? MBB [My Best, Bill]" Whereupon Hadfield replied to Kirk, "Yes, Standard Orbit, Captain. And we're detecting signs of life on the surface." Cue squeals of delight across the final frontier. [Source]
