Windy enough for ya? Gusts derail train in Illinois
8/10/2012A Union Pacific train has reportedly been derailed by wind in Sidney, Illinois. Yes, wind. The 10 railroad cars were derailed, nine of them turned on their side, and a couple of them hit with such force they split. A spokesman for the Champaign Court Emergency Management Agency said there were no injuries, and no hazardous materials onboard. A county road maintenance supervisor is believed to have the first to see the derailment. "I was driving when I saw the train blocking the road," Tracy Wingler said. "When I looked closer, I saw some of the train cars had blown over." [Source]
