Winehouse's dad presses for mandatory drug education
3/6/2012Less than a year after her death, Amy Winehouse's father Mitch is petitioning to make drug education a required part of the lesson plan for schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. "I couldn't have believed that drug education wasn't on the school curriculum," he told the BBC. "It never was, and I think that's why we're in the situation we're in today." Winehouse has joined forces with the Angelus Foundation, a charity run by a pair of women who lost their daughters to drug overdoses. If their e-petition collects 100,000 signatures, it could be discussed in the House of Commons. "We'll save hundreds of thousands of kids if we can do this," Winehouse said.
