Carefree granny rings in 90th with wild roller coaster ride

As her tenth decade rolled around yesterday, Thelma Gratsch of Mount Lookout, Ohio, celebrated the milestone birthday the best way she knew how: by taking a rollicking spin of her own around Kings Island Amusement Park’s Diamondback roller coaster. This 90-year-old is no slow-movin’ granny. She’s had a season pass to ride park attractions since the roller coasters were introduced in the 1970s. She estimates she’s ridden the towering, 230-foot-high Diamondback, which tops out at barreling speeds of 80 mph, more than 100 times since it opened three years ago. Park officials aren’t sure, but they think the boisterous nonagenarian is the oldest guest to have ever hopped on the ride, and we doubt this awesome lady has much competition. [Source]
