Woman charged with theft of cash she found in gas station
4/26/2012The familiar rhyme needs an update, because 'finders, keepers' has turned into 'finders, arrests her for thefters.' Stephanie Paparo was in court on Wednesday over an envelope of cash that she found on the floor of a Pennsylvania convenience store. Paparo was in line behind Jim Duffy when he bought what he must've thought was the world's most expensive snack, since he inadvertently dropped $2,300 when he reached for his wallet. Paparo could be seen on surveillance video picking up the money and doing a shifty-eyed "Did-anybody-see-that?" move before leaving the store. "She knew whose money it was," police superintendent Michael Chitwood said. "It's a theft." Duffy did not get his money back; Paparo had already spent it.
