Woman who found condom in tomato paste can gets justice
6/29/2012It's dinner time with your family. You've served them a normal pasta dinner, and now you're pouring the remainder of your normal can of Knorr tomato paste ... wait, what's that stuck to the bottom? Yes, it's a condom. Upon finding an unfurled rubber in the can of paste (paste which her family had EATEN), Cintia Mayerle, a Brazilian woman, thought this was not normal, and sued Unilever, Knorr's parent company. Despite Unilever's claim that the condom could not have been inserted at its factory because its manufacturing process is automated, the Brazilian Supreme Court fined Unilever and awarded Mayerle $1,700 for "moral damages."
Should she have received more compensation?
