World of Warcraft players raise $2.3 million for Sandy relief
1/13/2013Here is the final nail in the coffin of the old gamer stereotype. No, they aren't antisocial and dorky — in fact, they've just proved themselves warm and fuzzy. World of Warcraft players across the globe recently took a break from waging online wars to do real good in the world by raising a whopping $2.3 million (whoa) for victims of Superstorm Sandy. The fundraising effort was organized by Blizzard Entertainment, which vowed to donate all the proceeds from sales of its "Cinder Kitten" in-game pet to the American Red Cross.
