'World's hairiest girl' is proud to be unique2/23/2012
This extraordinarily rare condition would be the undoing of most people, but, for Supatra Sasuphan, it's a source of pride. The 11-year-old Thai girl, known by friends as Nat, has Ambras syndrome (aka hypertrichosis), a congenital disorder characterized by excessive hair growth on the face and body. Even with repeated laser treatments, the hair covering her face has come back thicker year after year. But Nat is a confident, A-grade student who sings, dances, and plays with a wide circle of friends. "She's at a special needs school, but the only special need she has is to be accepted," said NBC's Ian Williams, who reported from Nat's Bangkok neighborhood. When she was crowned Hairiest Teenager in 2010, Nat told Guinness World Records, "This is the happiest day of my life."
What could you learn from Nat?
