World's largest pumpkin weighs a ton and is kind of freaking us out

10/1/2012

The record for the world's heaviest pumpkin is under assault and has already been broken twice in the last few days. New Hampshire farmer Steve Geddes probably thought he had a lock on the prize at the Deerfield Fair with his 1,843.5-pound pumpkin, which he said grew 35 pounds a day since mid-August. That record was shattered days later, though, at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts, where a 2,009-pound behemoth grown by Rhode Island's Ron Wallace earned him both the world record and a $10,000 bonus prize for breaking the 1-ton mark. Charlie Brown, if you're still waiting for the Great Pumpkin, you'd better make more room in that patch. [Source]
