World's largest pumpkin weighs a ton and is kind of freaking us out
10/1/2012The record for the world's heaviest pumpkin is under assault and has already been broken twice in the last few days. New Hampshire farmer Steve Geddes probably thought he had a lock on the prize at the Deerfield Fair with his 1,843.5-pound pumpkin, which he said grew 35 pounds a day since mid-August. That record was shattered days later, though, at the Topsfield Fair in Massachusetts, where a 2,009-pound behemoth grown by Rhode Island's Ron Wallace earned him both the world record and a $10,000 bonus prize for breaking the 1-ton mark. Charlie Brown, if you're still waiting for the Great Pumpkin, you'd better make more room in that patch. [Source]
