Wrestling hangs up its spandex as Olympics drops it from games
2/12/2013Wrestling is tapping out of the Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee has thrown the sport out on its cauliflower ear and dropped it from the 2020 program. It's a little sad, as grappling has been part of the games since the first modern Olympics in 1896. With this loss, there are now 25 sports in the Summer Olympics — eliminating one allows the committee to add a new one later this year. Potential additions include karate (cool), squash (boring) and wakeboarding (really?). [Source]
